How Many Senior Sessions Should You Have?
One of the most common questions I hear from seniors and parents is: “How many senior sessions should we do?”
The truth is—there’s no one right answer.
Many seniors choose to have just one session, and that can be perfect. Others love the idea of doing a little extra. In fact, it’s very common to see seniors book two sessions between spring of junior year and fall of senior year, followed by a graduation session at the end of senior year.
The best choice is the one that feels right for you.
Your Senior Session Should Reflect Your Whole Story
Senior photos aren’t just about being a high school student—they’re about celebrating who you are in this season of life and everything that’s shaped you along the way.
Your senior session (or sessions) should reflect:
• your personality
• your style
• your interests
• your growth
This chapter is a big one. It deserves to be documented in a way that feels intentional, personal, and meaningful—not rushed or one-size-fits-all.
Multiple Session Allows For So Much Variety
One of the biggest benefits of multiple senior sessions is variety.
With more than one session, you can:
• photograph in different seasons
• enjoy multiple locations and backgrounds
• wear different outfits and styles
• capture different sides of your personality
Spring flowers, summer sunshine, fall colors—each season can tell a slightly different part of your story.
Learning What You Love Along the Way
Another huge advantage of having multiple sessions is the confidence that comes with experience.
After your first session, you’ll know:
• what outfits you loved most
• which poses felt the most natural
• what locations you were drawn to
• how it feels to be in front of the camera
That knowledge makes future sessions even better. You can refine your vision, keep what you loved, and adjust anything you’d like to change. Each session builds on the last.
Don’t Forget the Grad Session
Graduation sessions are such a meaningful way to close out senior year. Your cap and gown, college announcements, and that “I did it” feeling deserve their own moment.
By adding a graduation session, you get to:
• celebrate the accomplishment
• mark the transition into what’s next
• capture the excitement of the future
It’s the perfect full-circle ending to your senior photo experience.
One Session or More? It’s up to you!
Whether you choose one session or several, what matters most is that your photos feel like you.
That said… I’ll be honest—I’m a little biased. I truly believe everyone deserves multiple senior sessions. This season of life is too important, too fleeting, and too full of growth to be captured just once. Having more than one session allows you to celebrate different seasons, different sides of yourself, and the journey as a whole.
If you’re unsure what option is best for you, I’m always happy to help you plan a senior experience that fits your vision, schedule, and season of life.
